Fiber “U” Festival Classes I Teach

Spin with a Bunny
Instructor: Nancy Barnett
Have you always wanted to spin Angora-rabbit wool but have been afraid to take the plunge? Here’s your chance to master the art of spinning this exotic fiber. You will learn to spin English, French, German and Satin Angora rabbit wool and compare the differences. You will learn how to extend this “precious” fiber and still have the Angora look and feel without breaking the bank.
Participants should bring with them a spinning wheel or spindle, hand cards (if you have them) a pair of large dog groom brushes work well also, ball winder, and/or niddy noddy. A lap towel to catch stray fibers is very helpful. Also, please bring a bobbin with one ply of already spun fiber such as wool, alpaca, etc. to ply with your Angora. Students should know how to spin at a beginners level. Fee covers all fibers and notebook on spinning Angora.

Class Time: 3 hrs
Class size limit: 12
Material Fee: $25.00

Off Loom Weaving
Instructor: Nancy Barnett
You will learn to weave a small “possibilities” bag which can be used to hold a credit card, change or oil for your wheel using a simple weave technique on a cardboard loom. This is an excellent way to use up those small amounts of handspun that are not enough yardage to do anything with. Wool yarn will be provided to weave with but you are encouraged to bring your special yarns for this project. Angora rabbit makes an especially nice yarn to weave with. This is a take along project if you don’t finish in class. Fee includes all wool yarn to weave with, weaving needle and cardboard loom.

Class Time: 3 hrs
Class size limit: 10
Material Fee: $20.00
